Beaune is the jewel in Burgundy’s crown, and the Porte St Nicolas apartment is no less precious. It has been carefully renovated and furnished to accommodate 4 adults in comfort.

With high exposed beam ceilings, original parquet floors, and elegantly dressed floor-to-ceiling windows, this second floor apartment offers a delightful, high standard living environment.

At Porte St Nicolas, everything you need for a restful, but fascinating holiday is a short walk away. A nearby boulangerie for breakfast baguettes and croissants, a neighbourhood café where you can linger over a local glass of wine.

Beaune has an outstanding street market, (extensive Saturday mornings, smaller on Wednesdays) offering every conceivable fresh produce, cheeses, meats, various other products of the region, clothing, leatherwear, and kitchen items. For an evening meal try one of over 50 excellent restaurants – no drinking and driving required here!

Be sure not to miss the Hospice de Beaune, built in 1443 and in operation for five centuries.

We provide a ‘starter pack’ of basics which typically includes:

Milk, sugar, tea, coffee, bottled water, salt & pepper, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar.

Essentials: hand soap, toilet rolls, kitchen paper, foil, cling film, bin bags, matches, paper napkins.

All bed linen, towels, and cleaning products.

Cot and high chair available on request.

For stays of two weeks or more, we include a mid-stay clean and change of linen.

Rates are for up to 4 persons.
Minimum 4 night stay.
There is an additional stay tax that we are regulated to collect. To cover this an additional 2.5 euros per adult per night will be added to the rate quoted.
If heating is required, add 10 Euros per day.

Booking Notes:
A 25% deposit is required to secure a booking. The balance of the payment is due 30 days before arrival.
Preferred Payment method is by credit card. Otherwise PayPal, or by Telegraphic Transfer to our French bank account.
Changeover day is flexible.
We appreciate an arrival time from 4pm, and a departure time by 10am is required please.

Cozy apartment in a great location

Four of us stayed in this lovely apartment for four nights. It is clean and comfortable with a well-stocked kitchen. It's also in a great location within walking distance of many restaurants and sites. It is on a corner of a busy street, so with the windows open the street noise was noticeable, especially on the weekend, but not a major concern. Su was also very responsive to any questions we had. We would definitely stay there again.

Luxury apartment inside the ramparts of Beaune
We have stayed in this apartment several times over many years and love it. It’s location within the ramparts of the beautiful village of Beaune could not be better in which to explore the wonderful Cote d’Or. This luxury apartment has two ample bedrooms, each with its own ensuite as well as large and spacious kitchen, dining and living areas. It is beautifully decorated in keeping with with its 14C origins and very comfortable to live in for weeks or months as we often do. The high ceilings are of ancient oak, as are the floor boards. There is even an open fireplace. You really feel immersed in medieval France staying here. The kitchen excels in equipment and design that encourages one to shop in the famous Beaune market and cook up a storm. Additionally there is a free and safe parking area across the road, as well restaurants, a patisserie and a supermarket all within minutes on foot. There is no lift to this second floor apartment but the staircase is wide and easy to climb.

Ever since we checked out of the Porte Saint Nicolas apartment, I’ve been wanting to write and tell you how much we enjoyed our stay.

The apartment was perfect for us. We made good use of all of it. It’s comfortable and the kitchen and bathrooms are updated very nicely, yet it retains its period charm with original beams, floors, doors, and hardware. I really loved it. A friend staying with us is an accomplished chef who happily made us several gourmet dinners in the well-furnished kitchen.

You get kudos from us all around. We come to Beaune once or twice a year for five to ten days at a time, and we’d love to stay at Porte Saint Nicolas again when we return.
It was a pleasure to stay there.

We did want to thank you, your team & the owners for a wonderful stay at Porte Saint Nicolas (8-12 September). We have been back home for a week now after our great 5 week holiday in France.

The few days in Beaune were definitely a highlight, despite inclement weather! The accommodation was excellent, VERY clean & the kitchen was well stocked with cutlery, crockery etc. The basket of goodies & items in the fridge were delicious & greatly appreciated, a thoughtful welcome.

All positive, the only one one small comment we have would be the roller blind in the second bedroom. The cord was so short, especially having to reach over the chest of drawers, we had to climb on a chair to raise & lower them. One blind was not long enough for the window. (being rectified - Owner)

We will certainly recommend Beaune & Porte Saint Nicolas to our friends . We had wonderful meals at Le Bistrot Bourguinon & Maison du Colombier,, but I think the best meal we had in France in 5 weeks was at Caves Madeline.

Beautiful place to stay in Beaune
The property was lovely. Lots of room for four people to share and yet have privacy in our own space in bedrooms. Right in the heart of Beaune so we could walk everywhere and within short driving distance of many places in the surrounding area - chateaux, wineries, Dijon, etc.
Going up two flights of stairs might be a challenge for some but it gave us great exercises when we were going in and out. One small problem with coffeemaker which was quickly solved by Su Bishop.

Very comfortable and accommodating flat in a beautiful town & region.
This flat was the perfect base for visiting the Bourgogne wine region. We had a car and visited several Chateaus, tasting rooms, and vineyards. A market in close vicinity helped keep us us well-supplied with food. Overall, this experience exceeded our expectations. Thank you Sue & David for all of your help.

This is a wonderful Apartment with a great location on Beaune!

We visited Beaune April 17 - April 21. The apartment was very well decorated and was well located inside the walls of Beaune. The owners and managers thought of everything so the place was well stocked with essentials we needed such as coffee, some chips and other food. They even left us a bottle of sparkling wine! The beds were very comfortable and each bathroom had towel warmers which was a nice option. There were many CDs and DVDs along with books and a scrabble game. They provided wood for a fire which was great as it was unseasonably cool in Beaune when we were there. The information book provided gave all the details about the apartment as well as great places to eat and ideas for sightseeing.
You cannot go wrong with this apartment!

Beautiful apartment in wine loving town
We enjoyed our stay in this apartment very much - the location was very convenient to having a car as it is on the loop that encircles Beaune (inside the loop parking is metered and cobblestone streets and pedestrians may make it a bit confusing to drive). We arrived the first day of the Vents de Vin/Wine auction weekend. Unfortunately the free public parking lot was blocked off for the festivities but with some persistence and willingness to park where the locals park (e.g., off a walking path) we were good to go. The apartment is larger and lovelier than it appeared on the photos. High ceilings, beams, tall Windows, light and bright and well decorated . The kitchen was better equipped than any VRBO I have visited. No drip coffee maker - French press only. Full size and well working washer and clothes dryer!! Very rare. We were well supplied prior to arrival by the host (included) (coffee, milk, cookie, chips, orange juice, etc.) and there were cooking spices, oil, etc. Each bedroom has a large bed and separate en suite bathroom for privacy. The living and one bedroom face Rue Lorraine - nice holiday lights up already in November. We had one issue with the heating but it was addressed as soon as possible given the festival weekend; meanwhile the apartment has space heaters that worked fine and a wood burning heating fireplace. The local contacts responded promptly when we emailed them. We couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. Beaune is a nice, small town with infinite wine tasting opportunities - including wine caves and producers - in town plus wineries to visit by car.

We were so impressed by the accommodations of Porte St Nicolas! The apartment was clean, comfortable and very spacious. We were a party of 4: 2 couples and had our own on-suites, which was wonderful. The kitchen was beautiful an had everything we needed to prepare gourmet meals when we weren't dining out. The owners of the home left all the goodies we needed to get started off with: Champagne, OJ, Milk,Water,Cookies! How considerate of them! The apartment is in a perfect location for strolling and sight-seeing old town Beaune. We would love to stay there again!!

Exceeded My Expectations
First, I should state the reason I wanted an apartment in Beaune and not a hotel. I had a vision of going out in the morning for freshly baked croissants and taking them back to my apartment for breakfast. I also wanted to go to the wonderful Beaune markets, pick up some fresh produce and cook a simple dinner. I came to the right place! It was only after we unpacked and looked around that we realized that everything we needed was in the apartment A fully equipped kitchen, with pots and pans of every kind, lovely dishes and spices for cooking! The owners had thoughtfully left a liter of milk and a bottle of Cremant de Bourgogne to welcome us. There was plenty of space for all of our "stuff". The bed was comfortable. Did my dreams come true? There were at least four boulangeries (bakeries) within walking distance. They all made wonderful croissants. The entire village of Beaune was at our doorstep. The markets were wonderful. French cheese is the best! We've been home about a week and as I look back on our stay, I am trying to figure out how soon we can return.

Fabulous visit in Beaune
A group of 4 adults enjoyed a wonderful stay at Su Bishops apartment in early Sept. The weather treated us well and the apartment was perfect for 4 adults to have privacy as well as share the great space in the dinning living room. if you can stay over a Saturday the Beaune market is worth visiting as everything in town is within walking distance from the apartment just inside the gates of the town. The restaurant directly across the street offered local fare and we thoroughly enjoyed the quality of the food and staff. If you are planning travel in the Burgundy region, be sure to book this apartment.mwe stayed 3 days but will plan to stay in the apartment for a week next time! The book on local activity guidance provided by Su was used extensively by us and the advice was excellent. The local grocery store allowed us to purchase requirements for breakfasts and lunches, although we could easily have cooked ourselves dinner in the well appointed kitchen.

We put together a picnic for each day and wine tasted in the famous villages - no need for an expensive wine tour. The unique tiled roofs of Beaune are throughout the region as well.

This is an exceptionally comfortable apartment, extremely well equipped and very well situated in the centre of Beaune. The rooms are spacious, light, airy; the kitchen is well equipped, the furniture is all stylish and very comfortable: all every bit as elegant and smart as shown in the photographs. Access is easy – car parking, free, is just across the road. We were one couple, but, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, there would be ample space for another couple or children. Beaune itself is a lovely town, with any number of restaurants, cafés, bars, shops (food and otherwise), quite apart from opportunities for wine tasting. The Saturday market is excellent. Surrounding areas are also outstanding.
